A Bike Style that’s Difficult to Categorize

July 24, 2020

Since the hybrid bike is a composite of other bike styles, the frame of the hybrid is often different than that of the urban or flat bar bikes, despite the fact that the hybrid usually gets confused for comfort and fitness bikes pretty often.

The hybrid bike that leans more towards the mountain bike will have a sloping top tube and front suspension, but if you change the style of the front fork the bike can just as easily be mistaken for a road bike. Some models feature very low stepover heights, while other bikes will have a top tube that’s almost horizontal. Other models will have very sharp bends in the frame. Basically, unlike the mountain bike or road bike, the hybrid doesn’t have a specific look. Instead, these bikes can be designed in a variety of ways, which is why it can be so difficult to categorize or even identify a hybrid.  One thing that all styles of hybrids have in common is the fact that they’re designed with efficiency and comfort in mind.
